This is not a test.

This is a real, soon, perhaps too soon, about to happen event.

Yet another bare-brawned,  right-lobed-brained, exciting adventure.

Bear with me here. (Pun intended.  I am in Maine you know.)

I am riding down to the

Blue Vs Grey Scooter Rally

http://www.bluevsgreyrally.com

June 14th through the 16th

In beautiful downtown Nashville, TN

'N since I'm but a 110cc Honda Elite, that sometimes catches 50 mph, I'm leaving on

11 June 2013

(I'm thinking it'll take me three days, no?)

Here's my plan…

First day should get me to Stroudsburg, PA.

Second day, I'm shooting for Parkersburg, WV.

Third day, Nashville, TN.

So, here's the deal…. Do you know anyone that:

1.  Is on my route that might want to jog along just for giggles and kicks?

2.  Knows of any good eateries along the way that would help fill a hungry rider without needing to break-open my piggy bank?

3.  Know of any good, inexpensive (okay, cheap) places to stay along the route?  Campgrounds are okay.

4.  Have any suggestions as to gear, things to take, etc.? Other than, stay home you crazy fool).

Let me know, I am, as always, willing to listen and to learn, and remain….

Yours truly,

Johnny Dollar.

  1. That's just plain awesome! I sure hope you get a riding buddy because that's a whole lot of riding with no one to eat donuts with.

I envy the food you will be enjoying down there. And the company. Alas, I won't be available I am sure. But I will say that I'm going to try on a 125cc sometime soon just to see how it fits. A little something to look forward to.

    1. You are welcome to join me. A 125 would do more than my 110, so you could just cruise along. It'll be fun too.
But if you won't come along, at least send me a list of what I should eat so that I can provide you with vicarious thrills.
      Ciao, Mike.

    1. Not to worry Martha, no cookie dough egg rolls here.. I'm packing light so as to have room for famous Maine Frosty's Donuts. Going to stuff my backpack….
      Ciao, Mike.

that's an ambitious ride ! I've never been down there so I can't help you, but if you come closer to Oregon I may be able to offer more suggestions.

    1. Bob: Great idea. Now I need to convince the BRW, that the best way home is to circle around and come down through Canada.
      Think she'll buy it?
      Ciao, Mike.
PS… If I get the new 225cc scooter I'm looking at, I just may need to ride it out your way to see if its got what it takes….

    2. Mike:

You are ONLY 3 weeks ahead of me. I am leaving around July 8 and heading your way. If you ride Northward on a slow road I can meet up with you anywhere where Hwy 80 or 90 intersect.

and "GO FOR" the larger bike . . . tell BRW that it's final, you're getting it

    3. Wonderful! Are you coming to Maine, and if so, when will you arrive?

    4. Mike:

It is too early to Pin it Down to the exact day, but you are retired so time is of no consequence.

I think I am leaving on July 8th but we have to do a slight detour to WI, NE and PA, so right now if you you need to know today, to plan your grocery shopping I would say: Tuesday, July 16th @ 5:15 pm in your driveway. But you will have to email me your address ahead of time so we know where to aim our GPS.

set the table for 7. We are looking forward to an exquisite Italian welcome & meal. ( 7 = 3 of us, 2 of you & allow 2 for those two from Atlanta, fingers crossed)

  4. That will be an epic adventure Mike. 1273 miles, wow.

I've never been east of Chicago in the US so I am no help on eateries or places to stay. But I am going to have fun following along on your trip. Eat some veggies for me.

Veggies? In the South? Does Corn Bread count? Wait! Wait! Collard greens, Kale and chitlins… okay, so maybe not the chitlins - or the ribs. Hmmm. Do my best. Promise.
On another note, when are you two going to make it to the land of milk and honey?
Okay, maybe that's a whee bit overstated, but at least our Sun comes UP, OUT of the ocean.
Come on out, I've got some Italian vegetable dishes to die for.
      Yours for the taking….
      Ciao, Mike
